Gender analysis and gender impact assessment are widely encouraged (and often required) in the development of policies, but not currently in Elder Abuse prevention and responses.
The World Health Organisation calls for a gender-specific approach to Elder Abuse and the group says the absence of a Gender Lens is an ageist omission.
To help bridge this gap, a draft Gender Lens for Elder Abuse was launched at Embolden and presentations reflecting on it included:
Age Discrimination Commissioner Robert Fitzgerald AM
Debra Nicholl, CEO of Elder Rights Advocacy
Geoff Rowe, CEO of ADA Australia
Check recordings of these presentations and the Draft Gender Lens on the #Embolden2024 webpage and provide feedback on the draft.
