COTA Australia is running a pilot program designed to empower community members to support others to feel more confident accessing services such as MyHealth Record or E-scripts.
The pilot is looking for people who:
are comfortable using a smartphone
have connections to an existing network of people you can engage with
can participate in 2 workshops, one online in mid-August 2024, one in person in mid-September 2024. The September workshop may involve interstate travel, for which we will cover the costs.
are willing to be interviewed about the pilot and your involvement
are interested in sharing what you have learnt and can report back to us in June 2025 about the outcomes
What will you do?
You will be trained in using digital health technologies and basic advocacy, engagement, and training skills. You will then engage with, and provide ongoing digital health technology support to, older Australians in your community. You will be a resource for older people who wish to establish and/or maintain a digital presence.
We will ask you to report back and participate in the evaluation to see how sustainable the pilot was and how it can be applied in other locations.
Timeline: We will begin in mid-August 2024, when we will have the initial workshop with the trainer. The pilot will end in August 2025.
Costs: There are no costs for participants. We will reimburse all out-of-pocket expenses, and participants will receive a small gift to recognise their contribution.
