The move is a called for in the Western Australian government's Challenge Your Bias campaign, part of a $400,000 two- year education strategy to address ageism in the community.
The seven-page document titled "Embracing age diversity: A guide to inclusive language and imaged" aims to remodel the way older generations are portrayed in language, media, organisations, and everyday life.
Terms such as Boomer, Generation X, and Millennial are claimed to separate generations and create "unnecessary tension" according to the Challenge Your Bias campaign.
The document states individual diversity increases with age, therefore using collective terms such as "Boomer" can assume everyone over a certain age requires the same level of health and social support when it may not always be the case.
