In a regular newsletter Ms Hughes says that a recent research report conducted by the NSW Council for Social Services (NCOSS) found that older people have experienced an alarming growth in poverty “making older people the poorest age cohort in our State”. She says that “people are turning to us to link them to services to get urgent poverty relief. Many have never experienced these economic and emotional stresses in their life.” She says that COTA’s Information Pathways Service links people to the right support at the right time to alleviate this cost-of-living crisis. But donations are now needed to help fund services as the need increases.
