It's not the life the former home-owner had imagined when she moved from New Zealand to Western Australia's South West with her partner of 35 years, Peter, and began to rent in Margaret River.
"The first five years was really good," she said.
"[Then] the house was going on the market … We couldn't get another rental, because there were so many people at the time looking for rentals, and the price of rentals here are very expensive."
Three days after moving into a tent, Peter died and Ms Rowe was forced to grieve while adapting to life as a rough sleeper with her adult grandson.
That was more than two years ago.
