Preventing insurance claim elder abuse: your ideas needed

Online workshops aim to identify issues encountered by older people during the claims process and to develop solutions to prevent abuse occurring during the process.

Published: 11 September 2024

The National Ageing Research Institute (NARI), in partnership with Allianz Insurance Australia, invites people 65 and older, and those caring for older people, to give their perspectives in two workshops. The research team will then develop recommendations for preventing elder abuse during the insurance claims process.

If you're eligible you'll attend two co-design workshops, each running for approximately 2.5 hours. We'll work together to explore the problems you've faced and come up with solutions that will help prevent abuse occurring.

The online workshops will include Allianz staff and stakeholders, older people, and those caring for older people. These workshops will be held online via Zoom with a total time commitment of approximately five hours.

The online workshops will be held at these times:

Thursday 19th September, 1PM - 3.30PM AEST (NSW, VIC, QLD, ACT, TAS) / 12.30 - 3PM ACST (SA, NT) / 11AM - 1.30PM AWST (WA)

Thursday 10th October, 12.00PM-2.30PM AEST (QLD) / 1PM - 3.30PM AEDT (NSW, VIC, ACT, TAS) / 11.30AM - 2PM ACST (NT) / 12.30 - 3PM ACDT (SA) / 10AM - 12.30 PM AWST (WA)

In recognition of your time, you'll be compensated with a $100 gift card voucher for participation in both workshops. If you have any questions, please contact Dr Marina Cavuoto at m.cavuoto@nari.edu.au
