Cairns Regional Domestic Violence Service

Support clients to live free from the impact and threat of violence in their lives, by providing space and validation of their experience(s) through a platform of safety and empowerment.

The Cairns Regional Domestic Violence Service aims to provide high quality, responsive services to our clients. Our service is staffed by qualified professionals with experience in adult and child/youth counselling, court support, community development and professional training.

Services include:

  • Adult counselling
    Counselling sessions involve individual face to face counselling with a counsellor who specifically deals in domestic violence issues. These sessions take place in a private, confidential and safe environment. They enable you to discuss your experiences with someone who is understanding and supportive and they can be tailored to help you achieve your personal goals.

  • Child counselling
    Counselling commonly covers issues such as protective behaviours, dealing with anger/agression/conflict, adjustment to parental separation/divorce, grief and loss, self-esteem, living in a blended family, effective communication including assertiveness.

  • Court Support
    The legal process surrounding Domestic Violence can be overwhelming and may leave some people involved feeling re-victimized. Part of our role as the Cairns Regional Domestic Violence Service (CRDVS) is to provide support and information to victims at court.

  • Community Education
    Cairns Regional Domestic Violence Service aims to eliminate Domestic and Family Violence in our community through the provision of quality education and training services to the community in general, as well as professionals working with victims and child witnesses who have experience Domestic and Family Violence.
