Mental Health Foundation ACT
The aim of the Foundation is to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of the people who live with a mental illness and decrease stigma.
Mental Health Foundation (ACT)’s Outreach team provides support services to individuals experiencing mental-health issues/concerns.
These services include support coordination, mentoring, assistance in activities of daily living, psychosocial community participation and transport. Our Outreach staff are mobile, which means that services may be provided in the comfort of the participant’s home and/or at public locations.
Our Short Term Accommodation Respite (STAR) houses provide residential respite care for people with mental health concerns. This service is designed to be a ‘safe place’ for people to have a break from their usual living environment. It allows the participant to rest and recharge, while focussing on short-term recovery goals. Our respite homes are located in Kambah and O’Connor.
Individuals supported in this program live in homes throughout the community, in a shared house, and participate in society just as anyone else would. Individuals are supported to receive necessary services in their home and community. This allows for more personal choices and for our clients to express themselves as individuals.
